What We Do
At "Sew into Overlocking," we specialise in teaching you how to use your overlocker and coverstitch machines with confidence. Our owner, Kate, is passionate about creating beautiful things with these machines and loves sharing her knowledge with students of all skill levels. We offer a variety of classes designed to give you the skills, inspiration, and confidence you need to tackle any project in a fun and supportive setting.
How We Work
Our approach is very hands-on and encouraging. We offer structured classes, both for beginners and more experienced sewers, that come with comprehensive workbooks and all the fabric you'll need. The goal is for you to leave our classes with a deeper understanding of your machine and the confidence to use it at home. We focus on practical skills, from basic threading to advanced techniques, and even dedicate time in our classes to answer your specific questions and help you with your personal projects.

Here's what some of our students have to say
Clare (VIC)
Kate’s classes are chockablock with gems, I have so many “oh my goodness how did I not know that” moments. So many great tips and skills, and she demystifies overlocker and coverstitch machines. I am so much more relaxed and confident since I’ve done two of her classes. And I plan to do more as I know she will always have something extra to offer and nudge me along my sewing journey.
Tonee (NSW)
I just want to tell you how grateful I am for your overlocker classes. I went to my first class with you and I only knew basically how to turn my overlocker on. By the end of that day I had achieved so much knowledge about my overlocker. You are the most knowledgeable person regarding overlocker that I have ever met and to top everything off you have become my wonderful friend. Your classes are so easy to follow and making the book gives such a wonderful reference. Kate I sing your praises far and wide because you made me very comfortable with my overlocker, thank you. Anyone who is having trouble should do your classes.
Leesa (QLD)
I’ve had the pleasure of working with Kate from Sew Into Overlocking for over eight years as part of our sewing school in Brisbane, and I can’t recommend her highly enough. Kate is truly an expert in all things overlocking and coverstitch — her knowledge, tips, and tricks are second to none. If you’ve ever wanted to take your machine out of the box and really learn how to use it with confidence, Kate is the person you need by your side. Beyond her technical skills, she is a generous teacher, a passionate maker, and a highly valued member of the sewing community. Anyone who learns from Kate will walk away inspired and empowered.
